Full Time English
All General English classes use material from a wide range of sources to keep our teaching interesting and varied. As part of the course, students are provided with a coursebook and CD-ROM appropriate to their level of English. This coursebook is yours to keep and helps to provide a useful, structured resource for students learning both independently and inside the classroom.
We believe that small class sizes are essential to optimising learning on an English language course. With this in mind, class sizes at Stamford Academy on our General English courses are capped at 12 students – with an average class size of 10.
Who is it for?
Our General English course is open to all students over the age of 18. Whether you are at an early stage of your English studies, with the ability to communicate your basic needs in everyday situations, or an advanced student seeking to refine your language skills, we have a class to meet your needs. We do not currently hold any classes for complete beginners.
Which class is right for me?
There are a range of class levels for students attending our 15 hour General English course at Stamford Academy, from Lower-Intermediate through to Advanced. Lessons currently take place for 3 hours each day, Monday to Friday, between 9am and 12:30pm with a 30 minute mid-morning break. Students on the course are given a short placement test and an informal interview to assess their level of English before being placed into the appropriate class.
When can I start?
New students can enrol on our General English course on any Monday between the beginning of September and the end of June. Students wishing to study during July and August, please see our Summer Course information.
